THE INDIVIDUAL
Amit programs and facilities are meant to supply a warm, supportive and promotive home for their residents.
The tenant is the axis around which the facilities and their methods are constructed.
The programs’ founders and operators are dedicated to consistently reexamine the residents’ needs, abilities and will. The residents’ opinions, mood and improvement in physical and social skills are the only measure for how warm, supportive and promotive we are being for them.
The idea of the warm, supportive home centered around the tenant is what guides our attempts to educate, teach, form behavior, answer social or physical needs, and any other matter.
Any form of work which goes against this idea, does not belong here.
PROGRESS
The line of progress in Amit facilities aspires to align itself with the progression of life in the Israeli community, therefore we emphasize the development of social skills and a degree of independence as close as possible to those expected in the Israeli society.
The route of progression in Amit facilities is personalized to fit the tenant’s abilities, will and talents.
The facilities’ staff is tasked with identifying the tenants’ personal abilities and aspirations, nurturing and empowering them in a way which promotes the tenant in all aspects of life.
PAST AND PRESENT
CONNECTION WITH THE FAMILY – HOME AWAY FROM HOME
In the Israeli community, “home” is a concept of emotional value, which changes over time and according to circumstance. Our childhood home becomes our parents’ home. Sometimes we choose, or are forced to leave our home and spend time living somewhere we do not perceive as our permanent home.
With and for the residents, Amit aspires to form facilities that they will view as their home.
This home does not substitute their family home but stands alongside it in accordance with the popular model. Amit staff does not replace the parents, but joins them in the ongoing educational process of the tenant whose special needs lead them to our doorstep.
Amit staff’s work must be done in maximal cooperation with the tenant’s family, and with attention to its needs. Such a cooperation accelerates the process of the tenant’s recognition of the facility as their home and contributes to their motivation to stay.
FUNDING AND SUPPERVISION BY THE MINISTRY OF SOCIAL AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL SERVICES
Amit runs private facilities which were formed in accordance with the needs of the system as defined by the ministry, are run according to its demands, regulations and policies, and are funded and supervised by it as required by law.
Our work methods, educational programs, social contents and overall lifestyle fit the policies and guidelines of the ministry.
The structures used by Amit also fit the standards and demands of the ministry while taking extra care to be aesthetic and pleasant for their residents. The physical structure is another tool for creating a warm atmosphere and contributes to the tenant’s sense of belonging.
