I first heard of Amit hostel during my pre-army service year.
A sister of a good friend was an Amit employee and highly recommended the place.
After my service I began studying for a first degree in special education, and for different reasons Amit wasn’t on my mind.
On my last year of school I started looking for work and Shoshi repeated her recommendation.
I came to an interview.
The plan was to work for six months until I get my degree, but quickly I fell in love with the residents, and in time formed strong bonds with the staff as well. 17 years passed right under my nose.
I met my husband through Flora who was a housemother in the hostel, and the residents and staff accompanied me like family through the preparations for the wedding and starting a family. Not a day goes be where I don’t get asked about my family.
With the residents and staff I gather new experiences.
With the years I expanded my studies and professionalized in courses Solly and Raz sent me to and in courses I took independently.
I am grateful for the privilege to be a part of Amit family.
