Solly and Raz Levi in their youth

Solly, born in the city of Be’er Sheva, and Raz, born in the kibbutz Beit-Kama, first met in 1976 at “Bat-Dor” Dance School in Be’er Sheva. A bond between two kids who dreamed of being dancers, developed into a brave friendship, then a relationship, a family, and eventually the founding and co-managing of “Amit Group Homes Ltd.”, which runs all Amit facilities, since their establishment on May 1991 until today.

The dream to dance was taken away by physical injuries, but the values instilled into them as young dancers continue to lead them in life to this day. Perfection of performance, hard, uncompromising work to achieve the goals, acknowledgement of the endless room for improvement, and the passion to reach each and every audience member, all form the base for their worldview and way of life. To those they add the values of a lifelong friendship, which taught them that the strength of any mutual creation is rooted in the individual strengths of its creators. Each must continue to grow, in their own way and according to their own needs.

Solly and Raz reached the world of the developmentally disabled in the late 80s, at a time when Solly was a Management and Industry student close to graduation. In cooperation with Raz’s father, Izac Levi (deceased 1995), they operated “Gil & Gal” resorts. This was the first milestone on the road to the first facility, “Amit Hostel”, in 1991.

Later on, Raz also got a degree (Humanities and Social Sciences), the couple took various professional courses led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Services, including Boarding House Management (קורס מנהלי פנימיות), and “Amit Group Homes Ltd.” grew in accordance with the needs of the residents and the instructions of the Ministry.

Solly and Raz Levi, “Amit” founders

Solly and Raz’s life experience has taught them that to strengthen a group one must strengthen each individual that forms it.
This is the foundation of their professional worldview, which emphasizes the supreme importance of nurturing the staff, as a tool for promoting the tenants according to their ability, talents and will, and for supplying them with a warm home.
Friendship was the basis for Solly and Raz’s way together, a lifelong friendship, and friendship is the basis of the company which they established.
“Amit” means friend, friend means for life.
